Item description

Before dishwash bars and liquids came along, vessels in Indian villages were cleaned with ash from the kitchen fire. Ash is fine and slightly gritty, so it rubs off oil and burnt food easily. Many grandmothers still swear by it for kadais and brass pots.

We’ve kept that same idea and made it easier to use. We mix fine wood ash with dried and powdered lemon peel, citron peel and soap nut. The ash does the scrubbing, the citrus peels cut grease and leave a fresh smell, and the soap nut gives a light lather.

It works well on oily kadais, burnt tawas, idli plates and vessels that smell of fish, egg or onion. It also cleans brass and copper vessels nicely and brings back their shine.
